Once upon a time...
Back in the summer of 2002, the band I was playing in was doing well, and I was enjoying the July 4th weekend at Norfork Lake, as the Toadies would say, " Down by the boathouse, my Supermodel girlfriend was showing me her dark secret... "   Well, little did I know, both would soon be gone.  But that's another story! So by September, I started over with what I knew best,  music.   Me and my old drummer, Doug Wolf, got together and I presented my next project ideas to him and with the desire to get going soon, we approched one of the three guitarist we worked with in the old band. Greg Dennis, quickly recommended a fine vocalist with other multiple talents, Mr. Gregg Lemley, who he had worked and recorded with in a band call "After the Good."  So beginning in October, working through Christmas we had a nice 45 song list compiled.  Anyone who has played in a band knows, the first test of co-operation when  a group of ego's gathered together, for the sole purpose of getting onstage and making a lot of noise, is picking a name!  Without the ugly details, no one died yet, "bigger they loom"  was established.
I'll try to explain...bigger they loom comes from an old saying, " the more you worry about your problems, the bigger they loom."  This has been with me since February of 97, another dark year, read from the big book. Twelve steps later and ever sense, I see it a lot now. But it always looks new to me.  From tornado clouds looming over the midwest,  to bombs looming over Iraq, the idea came to be, they, up on stage, looming over those who, came to be entertained...Like standing outside at the beginning of a thunderstorm, watching the lighting. Sure you can worry about being struck, but whoa, the feeling of the big crack of noise that scares the shit out of ya, for just a second... Whether we ever achieve that, that is how I want us to be...as I leave another dark year behind me.
So after a slow summer for us, in August, we lost our ever hard working drummer and my loyal knight, Doug, who needed less drama and more drumming.   We were fortunate enough to have the former Avery Hill drummer, Kent Miller, drum-slumming around looking for a steady gig.  We crammed 66 songs down his throat in about 4 maybe 5 practices, and he's only threw back up about four of them. Not bad at all! Three gigs under his belt and it's time for another feeding of them four, plus 15 new one's by the 1st of the year. Keep it going forward... We hope you come out, have a drink, dance a lot, meet some friends, and be entertained for a few hours.

Chapter Two...
It begins with all new members. Jeff, Mike, Scott... welcome.  I, the lone hold-out, wanting to prove , bigger they loom, is more than just a name. There is this concept, both men & women share... bigger is better.  They?.. that would be us.  And loom, if you ever get the chance to walk out on a big stage, for the first time , when the lights come on, before the first note plays, you look out into the haze, that's a sea of people and you can't really make anyone out clearly, but you know they all can see you, up there, above... that's the feeling I call...  loom.
This is now a story of determination. I have struggled to find the right amount of force to guide this project in what I believe is the right direction. Every other week-end, i actually go out and see other bands. Many Musician always say they heard of, or know  some band, but they never go see them.  It must be an ego thing!  They're scared that they will hear someone better than themselves. What I see is a chance to see where you fit in what I call "The Circle of Talent"   On any given night, you can go see any band, and if you sit, look, & listen, you will see at lest one member that just "smokes."  It's the guy or gal, that is up there , not just playing or singing, but performing easily above the rest. You always think, wish I had them in the band. The guitar player who goes between lead and rythem so smoothly you don't even realize they have only have one guitarist. The drummer that's in such a zone , you can tell the song he's playing even before the rest of the band kicks in. Then there's the one you just wonder why theiy're there?
Well I've been watching a lot of talent lately and seeing what it takes to be at that level for each member of the band. Hopefully I can relay this to all our new members, without shaving off any ego all performers must have, to not only walk out on stage, but to giive a show , all at the same time, that makes you in the audience think...
